Importance of CPEC

    The People's Republic of China was born in 1949 as a result of the great leadership of the great Chinese leader Mao Zedong and the fruits of his Long March. With the independence of China, Pak-China relations began to improve. Only Pakistan recognized it and this was the beginning of Pak-China friendship. This friendship reached such a height that examples of it began to be given in the world. It is a fact that Pak-China friendship is higher than the Himalayas.

    After recognizing China, Pakistan sent a high level delegation to visit China on January 4, 1950. Thus, regular diplomatic relations were established between the two countries from May 21, 1951. Since this historic day, economic and social relations between the two countries have been developing. They got stronger and stronger day by day. Today, the two countries are fully cooperating with each other in economic, security and defense terms and are on the same page in all matters of the region. The ancient Silk Road laid the foundation of Pak-China friendship 2,000 years ago and now C-Pac has sealed the bright future of Pak-China friendship and made it everlasting.

Work on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is in full swing. It is expected that this long corridor will be completed soon. CPEC was conceived in the 1990s. The first approach from China to Pakistan to connect China's western provinces to the Arabian Sea came in 1999. Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Pakistan on April 20, 2015 and the two countries signed the CPEC.
